A surge in cases of COVID-19 and continuing civil unrest might make the new year feel a lot like last year. However, at least for insurers, there is good news worth sharing.  

In this first edition of the Insurance News Analysis for 2021, Natalie de Freitas and I talk about a few industry headlines you may have missed over the holidays. We start with one of my 5 predictions for 2021: the industry-wide need for increased racial and ethnic diversity. 

Sustainability is another key topic. As insurers are feeling the impact from catastrophic events linked to climate change, I am encouraged that more insurers are looking at their own businesses to be part of the change the industry—and the world—needs to see. 

We also talk about what’s to come with the roll-out of 5G and the industry convergence opportunities ahead.
