Jean-Francois Gasc recently shared an article with our Digital Insurer Networking Group covering Google’s plans to win insurers’ trust. I wanted to provide a brief comment and get your thoughts as well.
I believe that the Aggregator Model for Google is not an interesting one. Google wants visitors to come back to them over and over again and the current announcement is directing customers to other aggregators or insurance companies and if customers choose to apply for an insurance there, they will not have to come back to Google. Also I doubt that there is significant value in collecting premium data through such a model as I truly believe, that connected care insurance will require different products and services to become relevant. Those tariffs will have to be developed and experience gained on such alternative products. We have seen Google entering and leaving other markets with the Aggregator model (for example in Germany).
